| Hi everyone. Just here to offer some helpful hints during time on the Master Cleanse. There is good advice out there for those who can't stand the taste of the swf. The advice is to use a straw because it goes down quicker and easier. Well, using a straw when drinking the lemonade is also helpful, although for a different reason. Using a straw limits the contact the acidity in the lemon juice has with your teeth. When we drink from a glass the liquid inadvertently sort of swishes around the mouth, coming in contact with the teeth's enamel. When using a straw, the liquid swishes around less and therefore spends less time in contact with the teeth. |

When using a straw, the liquid swishes around less and therefore spends less time in contact with the teeth. The lemon juice needs to stay in contact with the teeth for an extended time to affect enamel loss. Stomach acids (twice as strong as lemon juice) damage teeth as much, if not more, than any other acid. Since the MC/Lemonade is considerably diluted this is not generally a threat, the saliva generated would normally take care of it (saliva neutralizes citric acid and helps to repair any possible damaged mineral crystals from the enamel by replacing these lost minerals [remineralisation]). If you're going to brush your teeth, wait 10 - 20 minutes after drinking the lemonade to give your saliva time to work. But if you're still concerned or have sensitive teeth, a straw may help. Also, simply rinsing your mouth 10 - 20 minutes after your MC/lemonade with plain water will do the same.
The maple syrup could also be an eroder of tooth enamel if it were not diluted or if it were held in the mouth for an prolonged time. Again, the minerals from saliva are the same minerals (e.g. calcium etc.) as from teeth; meaning saliva helps repair teeth.
Tip: Although the MC/Lemonade stimulates the rapid production of saliva, do not slowly sip the lemonade, the longer it stays in the mouth the longer it takes for the pH balance to recover.
I have done the lemonade diet uncountable times and have found it strengthens my teeth and gums.

Have you tried switching to lime juice, it is recommended as a subsittute for the lemon juice and this is mentioned in the booklet. Lime juice is less corrosive and may be easier on sensitive teeth. Also, swish plenty of saliva around in your mouth while drinking the mix and afterward. Hope this helps...
