Is it effective to do the cleanse without taking the laxative but still doing the swf? Is there a way to replace the laxative with something else?
I'm okay with the salt (for now ) but I would rather not take the laxative. Because I've heard that laxatives can be addictive (I have irregular bowel movements so I don't want to become dependent)
I've looked, and searched, but was not able to find anything that truly answered my questions, so please excuse me if this has been asked already.
Thank you! |

Thank you! Herbal laxative teas work by the principle of peristalsis (distinctive wave patterns of smooth muscle contractions that moves food through the intestines) and should be used while cleansing. When you are cleansing there is little to trigger the action of peristalsis, thus the need for the herbal laxative tea. Normally, eating solid food would serve this function.
People who take laxatives while eating regularly (usually constipation is the reason) will, after a time, develop a dependency. Once the cleanse is broken the reintroduction of solid food will naturally take the place of the tea in stimulating the peristaltic action and the tea should no longer be needed.
Continued and/or regular use of herbal laxative teas after the cleanse, and once you've resumed consuming solid foods, will create a dependency and that is why some say it is not safe. The herbal laxative tea at night and the SWF in the morning work in conjunction with each other, the herbal laxative tea loosens and the salt water washes the nasty stuff out. Neither one by itself is quite as effective. I hope this helps...
