I have osteoarthritis (sp?) in both my knees and tore a tendon in one a couple of weeks ago. I am walking again, but was in a total funk about not being able to even walk as exercise, so decided it was time for a cleanse to give me something else to focus on and hopefully the cleansing process would help reduce the inflammation of the tendon in my knee.
Well.. this is the end of day three, and so far so good. I am cruising through with very little hunger, and feeling good about the whole thing, when out of nowhere I started getting horrible foot cramps and pretty severe pain in the bad knee; not as bad as when I hurt it, but worse than it has been in the past two days.
This is probably my 10th cleanse of any length of time, and I have never experienced anything like this before. Any thoughts?

This is probably my 10th cleanse of any length of time, and I have never experienced anything like this before. Any thoughts? Old wounds, injuries and scarred areas of the body are deeply cleansed during the MC and sometimes those areas may even reflect pain as they are healed because the initial healing was not complete. The Master Cleanse has been known to complete such healing. This may account for the pain in the knee and foot cramping or it may be a case of toxins migrating from one sensitive area of the body to another. The weakest areas of the body are often the most affected by the circulation of toxins for elimination.
During this cleanse, the body's healing process is at optimum efficiency. As the body scours for dead or damaged tissue, the lymphocytes enter the older, damaged tissue secreting substances to dissolve the damaged cells. These substances irritate the nerves in the surrounding region and frequently cause a reoccurrence of the pain. These discomforts are common and usually resolve themselves after a day or two or even the next sufficient elimination. Some cleansers get scared with these detox symptoms thinking something else is wrong, but there is no need unless the pain persists for days without diminishing at all.
